A hand-knotted Puspa carpet in a warm living room

Hand-knotted in Kathmandu · Since 1995

Slow craft,
from the Himalayas.

Carpets made the old way — one knot at a time, in Tibetan wool and mulberry silk, by weavers we've worked with for three decades.

The Craft

A Legacy in
Every Loop

Our facility in Nepal isn't just a factory — it's a community. Master weavers, mostly women who have inherited patterns from their mothers, bring centuries of Himalayan culture to a global stage.

The Carving Technique
Hand-scissors carve around every motif, creating a 3D depth and tactile relief that defines true luxury.
Knot Density
60-knot for organic texture; 150-knot for ultra-fine intricate detail. We offer the full range.
Pot Dyeing
Small-batch dyeing reduces water waste and produces deeper, more resonant colours.
Sun Drying
Dried naturally by Himalayan sun — preserving fibre integrity and the vibrance of every dye bath.

Materials & Textures

Fibres Chosen
by Nature

We source only the finest natural fibres — each selected for its unique tactile quality, longevity, and beauty. No synthetics. No shortcuts.

I
Tibetan Highland Wool
Sourced from high-altitude sheep, naturally rich in lanolin — making Puspa carpets inherently stain-resistant and remarkably durable.
Naturally Stain-Resistant
II
Pure Mulberry Silk
Adds a luminous shimmer that shifts beautifully under changing light. Each thread is finer than a human hair, yielding extraordinary detail.
Luminous Shimmer
III
Bamboo Silk
A sustainable alternative with the sheen of traditional silk and a softer, cooler hand-feel. Bamboo is one of the fastest-renewing plants on earth.
Sustainable Luxury
IV
Allo — Himalayan Nettle
Harvested from wild nettles in Nepal's hills. Exceptional tensile strength with an earthy, organic texture found only in the Himalayas.
Rare & Wild-Harvested
V
Hemp Fibre
Ancient, durable, and 100% biodegradable. Requires no pesticides — produces a rug that will outlast generations and return cleanly to the earth.
100% Biodegradable
VI
Chinese Silk Blend
Imported from specialty silk farms — brings unmatched fineness to our most intricate pieces. Used selectively for pattern highlights in the Signature collection.

Heritage & Sustainability

"A carpet leaves our workshop with three months of someone's life inside it. We think that's worth doing properly — the wool, the dye, the wages, all of it."

— Puspa Carpet Industries · Boudha, Kathmandu

GoodWeave Certified
Every carpet leaving our facility carries a GoodWeave certification — a transparent supply chain free of child labour, dedicated to weaving community education.
Pot-Dye & Sun-Dry
Traditional small-batch dyeing reduces water waste. Our rugs are dried naturally by the Himalayan sun, preserving fibre integrity and dye vibrance.
100% Biodegradable
A handmade wool rug is a return to nature. Plastic-free and fully biodegradable — an heirloom choice for the environmentally conscious home.

Rug Care Guide

Preserving Your
Investment

A handmade carpet is an heirloom. With the right care, a Puspa rug will grow more beautiful with every passing decade.

01
Vacuuming
Use a suction-only vacuum. Avoid rotating brushes — they can pull at hand-knotted fibres and cause premature wear. Vacuum in the direction of the pile.
02
Spill Management
Blot — never rub. Use lukewarm water and a pH-neutral soap. Work from the outside of the spill inward. Avoid chemicals that strip natural lanolin oils.
03
Rotation
Rotate your Puspa rug every six months to ensure even wear and sun exposure. This preserves colour and pile depth uniformly across the entire piece.
04
Professional Cleaning
Have your rug professionally hand-washed every 3–5 years to maintain natural lanolin oils in the wool and restore the original lustre of the pile.

The Ancient Art of Hand-Knotting: A Technique Unchanged for 2,500 Years

Sunita has been at the loom since she was sixteen. Her hands move faster than her eyes can follow, and somehow each knot lands exactly where it should.
